Can anyone help identify if this is a real sako rifle? I have never seen one stamped this way and cant find anything online. I cant post pics so I will have to text to someone. A guy is trying to sell it to me and has only sent me 2 pictures.

If he wont send you more pics then I'd go ahead and assume it's a scam.

                        Pics below

Varminter stock with the beaver tail forend
Possibly a Model 75 or an older Model L579 action Forrester
Action will have the model number and proof marks needed to verify

Definitely not a Sako deluxe Finnwolf model
Stock may not be original as I recall the older rifle stocks having a high pronounced Monte Carlo cheek piece

The stamping looks legit but the inlay letters could have been filled with paint to make it standout

The model # should be where the barrel meets to receiver, on top (under the scope). At least that is where it is on all my Sako Forrester’s (I have L61R’s).

Could it be an s491 varmint? Had one with the same looking stock.

S491 action is for a short action with small bolt face. The rifle in question is chambered in 243 (medium action) so it could possibly be an S591 ??
