What do y’all think about the 6.8.

Been looking at it and it looks good to me for a good mid (out to 400 yards) range cartridge.

Anybody here use one & what’s your thoughts.

6.8 SPC ? It’s a great round for what I’ve used it for, but on paper it doesn’t do what the Creedmoor does. I don’t own a Creedmoor, but I have two 6.8s, a dedicated NV gun and a daytime hog/coyote gun. Both ARs. I can tell you that up to 150 yards a high shoulder shot will put a big hog down and quick.

A 6.8-06 would be good out to that range.

I think it’s solid AR hunting caliber. I’ve got one that my kids use

The 6.8 is a killing machine. You get 80% of the power of a 308 in a smaller package and with the 120gr. Hornady SST it is very effective. Lots of guys shoot the 110 gr with good results also.
If I was only allowed to own 1 gun I would keep my 6.8.

If you are stuck with an AR15 type gun for deer hunting, a 6.8SPc is what I would go with. For a bolt gun there are many mo better rounds IMO

You will be limiting yourself on quality bullet selection. In an AR, I would take the 6.5 Grendel over the 6.8
In bolt Rifles, there are hundreds of better chamberings. As stated before, get a 270 if your sold on that 6.8 caliber.

6.8 here. Great caliber for hunting and performs well in a short barrel. Chose it over the grendel for hunting.

As stated here, there are better offerings in other actions. But in AR it’s great if you know your distance limitations. Mine is a 12.5” so you have to know that after 200 yards it’s falling fast. But with the suppressor and inside of that distance it’s a machine.

                              x2.

                              Now have several Grendel’s. My go to’s are 6.5 Grendel 12.5” SBR’s.
