One place i hunt out of a box blind, you can basically only shoot out of the front window and that's it. I wanted a way to keep my rifle up and ready at all times because in the mornings you are facing enough sun to where the deer can see you move the gun to get ready (almost cost me my largest buck to date last year....almost)
Plus my oldest daughter (almost 4) wants to sit with me some so i wanted to get the gun up and ready and didn't trust having the butt stock resting on shooting sticks in case she or i would bump them.
Came up with this as i already had the pig saddle and an extra cheap but fairly heavy tripod ball head.
Basically 2 pcs of 4x4x1/4 angle welded together and bolted down to my window sill. Then a 3/8-16 bolt to screw into the ball head.
Works with the pig saddle or with a rifle with an arca plate bolted to the stock.
