    Texas Red Wolf

Our ranch hand and my step dad have seen what they are calling a red wolf at our place in Huntsville... They have both seen it separately and said it is twice the size of any coyote they’ve ever seen and a lot of our calves have half tails this year.

After a quick google search it says they are extinct but they are finding traces of red wolves DNA in some wild dogs in texas.

My question is can I shoot it legally and get it mounted?

Should I let it pass and keep breeding?

Has anyone else seen any or heard of any sightings recently?

Most likely a coydog (cross) and good to shoot

      HOWEVER

I have no idea what would happen to an individual who shot an extinct species

      Shoot at your own risk

Burnadell shot this Pterodactyl way back in the day. Game wardens couldn't do anything about it because they were thought to be extinct 5 years earlier

Check out the most recent issue of Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine. The featured article is on Red Wolves in Texas. Primarily Galveston Island

This must be a first. I have never heard of this.

Burntorange was being sarcastic. There’s 1/2 dozen threads a year on the possibility of their existence in east Texas. They generally devolve into arguments

Where around Huntsville? We are by the Eastham unit on 230 and landowner has a lot of new calves right now.

If they are extinct, it shouldn’t be a problem, because they don’t exist any longer.
