With the scar on his shoulder I would assume he lost a fight or misjudged a fence.

+1 Vehicle came by, he misjudged the fence at an angle, and caught a tpost.

Shoot him to find out. My guess is impaled during a fight or somehow caught barbed wire.

Had no intention of killing him before-Not gonna do that now- wound doesn’t seem to be bothering him that much- just interested in what people thought cause I don’t know for sure either.
Maybe his off side gonna blow up next year because of it![emoji1696]

I've seen something similar with a smaller cal and ballistic tips. Blows up on bone and doesn't penetrate to kill.

I sure want to blame small caliber and volatile bullet but he has some other marks on that shoulder and a rift of hair missing down his back that says barbed wire fence and T-Post.

We had a great buck on our place get hurt good like that. The next year he lost half his mass and horn growth. He did survive and eventually turned into a great buck again.

It looks like a shot to me and an expandable. Purely a guess. From what I have experienced the hide rips like that with a large broadhead. A lower speed and more blunt would have such a gaping type wound.
