Cost to drill under road for water

Looking at a place that has a co op water line on other side of county road, in your experience would it be cheaper to get to that water than drill a well? Or has anyone been in a similar situation and have a general cost for me?

    Thanks

Don't have any idea what the cost would be, but remember, with a well you don't have a monthly water bill.

In my county if the road is gravel than you can cut it. Thats cheap. If its paved you have to bore under it. I just bored one the other day and it was a total of 80' and I paid 2k.

What size is the pipe you are wanting to put under the road?

I’d ask the county if the road can be cut vs boring. Also, who does the tap on the water line? The co-op may require it to be done by them. How much do they charge? Don’t forget that you have to have a backflow preventer. How long will it take to get a permit to do the tap and how much does that cost? Do you need engineered drawings? Lots of info needed from the county before you can really begin to compare costs. Every county is different as well.

The average going rate like posted above is $25-$35 per foot

When you start getting bids ask about wait time, don't know about where you are but out here boring crews are booked 2-3 weeks out and the list keeps growing.

Start with whoever is in control of water meters in your area.

Whoever owns that water line you're trying to tap into will have all the answers to your questions.

                              I'd start with them.
