Jeremy and Brandon helped Nick and I build and stretch a goat wire feedpen for him in 30 degree temps with a heavy North wind due to poor planning on our part. Good peeps....Well Brandon is anyway..

Nick is always fun to be around but that dang Jason dude slipped through the cracks somehow and I’m not sure who let him on the lease.

Well........they missed the really cold weather. I filled feeders in the ice. Luckily we got most of the "hard work" done in good weather.

A pig was trapped in Christoval. Not sure how many are around this area but looks like they’re coming.

I saw a dead one the other day off Hwy 190 right by Moore’s Ranch Feed about 10 miles west of Eldorado. It’s just a matter of time.

Some of our hunters found some sheds in the feeder pens 2 weeks ago. Most of our bigger deer still have both sides as of last week.

They’ve been there a long time. I think we took 30-40 last year. Heck I trapped 17 in a week and a half

Well, after a long hard weekend we got everything moved off our lease. Goodbye Angelo area. We made some great memory's on our lease but it was time to move on. I will miss that place but life changes. For me, my youngest daughter keeps me too busy traveling all over the country for softball tournaments. I will be doing a little hunting on our family place north of Sweetwater though, along with our lease in Kansas. I will still follow along with this thread. Good luck boys and girls!

For those who might be interested, Our land owner is NOT going to lease this place out again, so please don't pm me, but he did tell us we could get it back anytime we wanted, so that's nice to know. Maybe after this phase ends, we will be back out there.

We did find a few laying around without really looking. Seems like they are really starting to drop. Gonna put some foot time in next trip and see what I can find.

Def need some rain, really getting dry. With these warm temps and a little moisture we might get some good browse popping.

Blew thru us pretty fast, as dry as it was looks like it just knocked down the dust some. Looked a lot better on radar.
Southern guys prob faired a little better.

But def better than nothing at this point!

Got an update from our lease:
The deer are hammering the cottonseed. 2 of our members put out 1,500 lbs yesterday. Here’s a picture of mine.

They ate about 1,000 lbs out of just my pen in 5 weeks. I’ll be topping off in a few weeks when I’m able to make a trip.

We started filling our free choice protein feeders last Thursday. In just 2 days, they’ve pulled about 100 lbs of feed out of each feeder. 50lbs/day is insane for our place. All of our Lamco times trough protein feeders have been getting hammered since we’ve dialed them up to 10 seconds, twice a day in January. No feed in the trays. I will be having to top that off too as I have been informed it is empty. Luckily our landowner is filling all 10 of our free choice feeders. I’ve got him scheduled to top those off every 15 days. By the way our deer are feeding, I’m glad I set the schedule up that way.

I finally had time to hang up my 2017 buck. I hung it on one of the TKmounts that I ordered online. Pretty neat idea. I like the way it swivels, allowing me to turn it at the angle I want.
