Ok, looking forward some local knowledge here from the TBH brain trust. The wife and I are heading to Lubbock along with our youngest whose team is participating in the TTU basketball team camp. What would you suggest in terms of good, locally owned restaurants and sites to see that are close to town?

Caprock Cafe (queso burger is awesome) - great family burger place, cheap food, lots of tvs, ice cold beer
Evie Maes BBQ - this is a lunch place but the bbq is fantastic (and free beer if they still do that)
Triple Js - slightly more upscale compared to caprock but still casual. It has its own brewery and the food is good
Cast Iron Grill - breakfast/lunch place
The West Table - For Lubbock this place is pretty upscale, food is pricey but fantastic. Definitely was my favorite restaurant when I lived there. Plates are going to be in the $25-$50 range
If you want the nicest place in town, I would recommend Las Brisas. It is a steakhouse - obviously expensive but very good

If you’re looking for fine dining locations, I highly recommend Las Brisas. One of my favorite restaurants when I used to travel to Lubbock regularly.
Another little known fact: Lubbock has highest volume iHop in the country. This means two things: 1) people in Lubbock LOVE their pancakes and 2) the wait at the iHop is an interminable one! Because of this, we prefer The Pancake House. It’s been locally owned for over 50 years and “Jesus Eats Here.” (You have to eat there to get the reference!)
