    Road base quote - Reasonable?

I was quoted a caliche road, 800 foot long, 13’-14’ wide, 4” thick, 3 - 18”x20’ culverts, drainage ditches cut down both sides and all the grading/clearing. $10,100. Sound fair?

That’s a great deal. I paid $5,500 for 300’x12’ with no culverts or drainage work

Thanks Gents. My first time doing this, didn’t know what to expect.

I was quoted a little more for 600’. Seems reasonable.

So are they using base or calichie ? Seems like a pretty good price. It’s about about 2000 dollars worth of some non spec base without transportation.

As long as it's processed road base that's a guy's deal. If it's just pit run caliche, not so good.

I budget $30 a foot for my road builds for 22ish feet wide with ditches not including culverts and hope it comes in under that. I think you’ve got a deal!

Extremely cheap considering rock is every bit of $7500. I would add some type of underlayment. But I also wouldn’t get mad if he built it and it wasn’t strong enough. That’s pretty cheap. It’s a gamble worth taking in my opinion. Culverts are about 150 a piece as well at costs.
