Jim (keep) and I took our boys on a trip a lot of you have seen posted about here over the years and many have actually been on. Jim’s son Wyatt is 15 and Luke is 16 and they hunted together the first time when they were 3-4 (see last picture).
It was a fairly tough hunt for a few reasons. It was last week of season and the bugs were horrible. It was also the rut which it not good for bear hunting over bait. Last, we were hunting with the boys so 2x the smell, movement etc.
Luke and I sat close to 25 hours in a tree and finally saw our first bear the last night. Luke played it perfectly, letting the bear come in and get relaxed and then made a great 20 yard shot. This is his first time to hunt in a tree stand and he executed it flawlessly!
No idea how our guide tracked the bear in the thicket he ran into but he found him less than 100 yards! Quick photos and celebrations and then we were headed out!
Nothing like closing the deal the last day!
