When is the best time for fall colors? Mid October?

Yup mid October to early November. A very cool park indeed, they still haven't figured out how the Maple Tree's got there...lots of theories!

Garner isn't that far away, always a cool park to visit especially during the off season when it's no so crowded. Hill Country state natural area is also very close... but only open certain times of year.

It's kinda a secluded area, guess why so many people like it to be able to get away for a while. Also your phone service is horrible up there so keep that in mind.

A stop at the Lost Maples Cafe is always in order. Some family friends own it.

The park is up the road aways from our place and yes as has been said November is the time to go.

Go to their website, they have a leaf color change tracker that starts in October. Its different every year in terms of timing and color change. Some years not much to see at all and some its amazing.
