    Hog Trap Build

Building this one for a neighbor. They liked the design of one I built a few years ago.

    Here is the inspiration:

    Floor-less, 8x4x3 with trip wire-spring door.

1.5” square tubing (14ga) and some used panels.

All the end pieces for the frame have been cut and prepped for welding. 4x3 rectangles.

Northern Tool sells them. Fairly cheap compared to the big name brand ones.

Yes! I like them, and use them from time to time. They are very large & heavy. I forget if they are 4-5” capable. I’ve done 3” gate frames with no problem.

Only thing I wouid change would be the panels---get the ones with 2x2 openings so the piglets can't escape.

Not a bad idea. ...thought about it...might do it on the next one. I had these old panels laying around, figured I’d put them to use.

Repurposing parts from an old hog trap door that someone else built years and years ago. 1” square tubing and 3/4” sucker rod. It will sit in two larger pipe sleeves for the hinges.

Framed up and welded in place. I tired the hinges on the top and had to move them to the bottom, the angle was too severe, not allowing the door to open fully.

The pipes are welded to 6x6x1/4” strap.
