    Which baits?

Wife and I have been going to San Angelo fairly often and I was curious what the TBHers think. As far as freshwater fish give me your best bait and it can be either artificial or live bait for the species of fish. You can break it down to time of yr etc. Keep in mind this is for MOST ANY TEXAS lakes or rivers.

If I did not put the particular fish in the option your welcome to put it in there and name the bait. Trying to get ideas.

    Catfish
    Bass
    Crappie
    White bass
    Drum
    Bluegill
    Carp
    Buffalo

Where have you been able to find Shad Gizzards? Those are some of the best bait I’ve found for channels and blues.

I used to buy them from a little bait shop north of Azle on 730. I dont even know if it's open any more. Sorry.

My favorite bait for carp is doughballs made from 40% bran flakes -- take a double-handful and dip into the water, squeeze and work until it is firm. Pinch off a piece the size of a nickel, put on a #4 hook and get after 'em.

Hands down Waterdogs. Problem is they are hard to find. Guides on Fayette used them for years with great success

They will catch any bass/catfish there is - plus you can use them over and over -

There use to be a fish supply place near Killeen that sold them - Central Texas baits. I am sure they are still sold other areas - best bait I have seen in my 50 plus years of fishing

Carp/Buffalo. Mix bran flakes with Big Red and oatmeal. Throw out range cubes about an hour before fishing. Fish with slack line and no weight if possible
