I’m getting congested just from reading this thread and thinking about cedar.

Coming home from Rocksprings today on I-10 by Kerrville, the wind blowing the cedars was sending clouds across the interstate. It was bad.

I fully endorse the Netipot as well but if it’s the cedar bothering you, go to H‑E‑B and buy “Texas Cedar Fever” it’s made for exactly what’s killin ya

I was really stirring it up going through those trees trying to find that doe.

Good luck with cedar allergies, I had that stuff very bad for many years. I used Claritin first, then Tavis, then Claritin D, then Tavis D. Each of them would work for two to three days, then it was like I was not taking anything. But when I would first start taking one of them, it would clear me up, I would feel great for a couple of days. But then my body would build up a tolerance to the stuff. Basically the stuff was more of an irritation that anything, but each would clear me up for the first two days I took them.

In recent years I have been using Flonase, I don't have cedar allergies, have not had them in many years. I traded cedar allergies, for all types of other allergies. I can tell you Flonase works great for me.

For a long term fix, go see a allergy specialist, they can cook up something like a antidote. They test you figure out what you are allergic to, then they can create a medicine that will eventually cure you of the allergies you currently have. Most people don't both doing this, but it does work.

If you want home remedies, I have been told by an old German, that you can eat the cedar berries, eventually they will cure you of cedar allergies. I have been told by other old Germans, that you can boil the cedar berries and maybe the needles, and make a tea, then drink it as a cure for cedar allergies. But I have been told by others that cedar berries are poisonous to eat. The old German who told me about eating cedar berries, said the first few times you eat the berries, they wil make you sick.

I do know that for each different type of allergy, they make the cure for that allergy, from the source of the allergy. So, a cure for cedar allergies would be made from some part of the cedar tree, same for ragweed, ECT. I have no idea how they do that.

I do know cedar allergies can get very bad, the first seven years, I lived up here, I was sure every winter that the cedar pollen was going to kill me. I would have ridiculous drainage constantly, my eyes would swell almost completely shut. Then my throat would be raw from all the drainage. I hated it, after about eight years, it started lightening up, every winter. Then eventually just completely went away, after about seventeen years. I got one winter with zero cedar allergy symtoms, then that spring, I had oak allergies, very bad, then all types of other allergies, including rag weed. Now about the only allergy I don't have is cedar. Which is good, I don't have the extreme allergy symptoms during deer season, like I did for so long.
I never had any allergy symptoms when I lived down south. All the years hunting in mesquite, cactus, huesache, ECT., zero allergies. I will take all the many variations of thorns in south Texas, over cedar allergies any day.

Hopefully you find a cure for that crap. I can imagine getting a bunch of cedar pollen in the face, would be bad stuff for me 28 years ago, my day would pretty much be done at that point.

X2, seems early this year. Eyes are always itchy and red already, but usually happens Feb/Mar up here in North TX.

Advil Cold and Sinus with pseudoephedrine works best for me. You’ll have to get it behind the pharmacy counter, but it sure works great.

My employee is sick this morning and I have fluids coming out of most of the holes in my melon head.

                          Fun times...

I had mine pretty well whipped until this year. Our juniper started pollinating in late October. I haven't seen one pop for several weeks now. It seems that the strong winds are bringing in a slightly different variety that my body isn't used to. My regimen has been a daily Clariton tablet, nasal irrigation, Flonase, and trying to stay inside on really windy days.
