I will be calling on Monday with some questions.

I am trying to see which direction to go on next caliber. My hunting rifles are .223, 7mm-08 and 270wsm. I was thinking 6.5PRC or go with a 300.

        Here’s what I’m thinking......

        6.5 saum gap 4s
.120 freebore , maybe a tad longer since I’m building off a long action? I definitely want to still be able to shoot the 130's though and them not falling out of the case.....what’s your thoughts Robert?
Long action with spiral bolt knob
22” or 24” still undecided but this will be a hunting rifle I’d like to shoot suppressed so the shorter the better.
        1:8 twist
        Deep Spiral fluted barrel
        Graphite Black cerakote
Maverick stock - Elite GAP Camo

        Leupold VX6HD 3-18x50 TMOA reticle

On the gap camo I like the smaller irregular shaped sponge Like this.

Is a 7mm mag a standard long action or would I need a "mag" action? In other words can a 30 06 be used to make a 7mm Rem Mag?

For those buying a “donor” action just a friendly reminder to make sure you match the bolt face to the caliber you want to have built.

I want to build a 300wm. I know to get the long action with magnum bolt face but can also
Get an action with the 300 rum feed ramps. Would it be better with the rum feed ramps for a 300wm or does it not matter?

What calibers can you build on a long action chambered in .270?

Buzz- go see SC338s post on bolt face / action length, its post #50.

You can fit anything with a .470 bolt face-- ie standard long action cartridges

I think I am going with the 300wm for my first custom rifle if I can make the cut on Tuesday.

Called and talked to Josh and don’t believe the carbon is available on this deal

Wait you talking about the black carbon steel vs stainless action right? If so see my original answer.

My understanding is other than the corrosion resistance of the stainless there is no need for one over the other. Since these will be cerakoted the outside will be protected. with the CS it will just be the internal part of the action that will be a little more susceptible to rust.
