    1985 Johnson 9.9 electrical issues

A couple months ago I bought a seized Johnson 9.9 from a friend that ran a couple months before I bought it. I took the motor apart and ended up getting new block, pistons, piston rings, gaskets, and seals. I’ve put everything back together but I cannot figure out the wiring. If anyone knows about these motors your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Take a look at this website...I used to have one of those motors and this site was really helpful:

Thank you. I have looked but there isn’t any information on wiring however it is very useful for other issues.

If you are not getting fire, you might look at the kill switch. I might be shorted out.

I didn’t think about that. All the wiring looked good but who knows what condition the kill switch is in. Is there a way to disable the kill switch to test if it’s the problem?

I rebuilt mine from engine block with this guy's help. I had no electrical issues though, which is what I was most scared of besides mounting the crank correctly

I watched all of his videos also and they were very interesting and helpful. Th easy part for me was putting in the crank and pistons. Where did you connect your ground strap lead wire?

They should have a connection on the wire leading to the handle where the kill switch is located. Pretty sure the switch just grounds out the wire, so make sure that it is not touching anything when disconnected.
