I am sure there is a specific and correct answer, but I personally wouldnt go faster than 40 or 45.

I just think because its not 4 wheel all the time and gets used occasionally it would put a lot of stress on the parts when pushed to hard.

I've been in 4 wheel high non stop since Sunday afternoon and due to conditions I haven't been above 55 at any time in my '01 F350. Haven't bothered trying to look up the documented top speed from Ford.

I try to keep it around 45-50 in 4H.

                    Yep.

That was before trucks had a light on the dash. So I wired one in next to the radio controls

Whatever my manual says. I know. I’m a boring rule follower when it comes to my vehicles.

In my 2000 F 250 I drove almost 1500 miles round trip with it in 4 high. Averaged 70-75 mph pulling a trailer. I said almost 1500 miles because about 40 miles from home the transfer case came apart. Turns out, when you shift back to 2 wheel drive in the cab, it doesn’t always happen underneath. When I pulled the busted transfer case out, I heard it switch back to 2 wheel drive.

Be careful, 4wd will get you in more trouble in these conditions. I run 4wd when needed and run 2wd 99% of the time. I only use the 4wd when absolutely necessary. My grandfather told me this from his experience running power lines in the North West. Stay safe!
