I like some of the El Dorado rums. Ron Botran is good. I'm working on a bottle of Cuban Havana Club now and it's very good but hard to get. Diplomatico is good. Some of the older Flor de Canas are good. You might try a rhum agricole for a little different take on rum too. Lots of good options and lots of different flavor profiles and styles to try. I've broken lots of folks into good rum with Ron Zacapa though. Just about everyone likes it.
I'm not into hard alcohol, but this is one that I will definitely consume straight up or on the rocks, but prefer straight up. Absolutely the best I've ever had.

Love me some Ron Zacapa. I'm also a fan of Pyrat.

For a silver rum, try Oronoco out of Brazil.

Glenn, where did you get a bottle of Havana Club? Or can you say? We drank that the entire time we were in Argentina. **** good stuff. Im partial to Flor de Cana but I think Kevin would prefer the Ron Zacapa 23.
Glenn is who gave Mary and I the idea of trying some rums. I like Scotch and Bourbon, as does Glenn. Mary not so much. So the idea of a good rum we can both get into is appealing.

I think we can do this!

                        It’s pretty good.
And I am not a rum drinker. I have always thought it tasted like medicine...
This is a just better medicine.

Initial reaction from glass one, Ron Zacapa Sistema 23 Solera: Very easy to drink, no burn, no bite, good flavor, very sweet. Stoutened up glass two. Let’s see how it does.

Bayou Rum is distilled from locally grown sugarcane in southern Louisiana, USA. Our signature “sugarhouse” recipe uses Louisiana sugarcane and molasses.
