Denied the sale of a car?

My dad who lives in Oklahoma was denied purchase of a used car at a dealership because he lived outside of Texas. Have you heard of this before?

Sole reason him being a non resident? Was this a big dealership? Or a buy here pay here?

Never heard of that one before, but I have recently heard credible stories of a local dealership denying the sale of a car without a trade in. Crazy times

Bought my son a new Ford ranger and the dealer about broke the deal when we didn’t have a trade in. They normally have 125 plus f150s, they were down to 5 or so.

Because it would be titled in another state. Large dealer.

Weird and doesn't make sense. You would just do the title work/paperwork when you get it back home. I bought a used truck from Arkansas 3 months ago and had no issues. Had to take care of tax/title/license once I got it back home.

Exactly, once they get the money, it’s on him to get the title.

I just bought a vehicle that was in Missouri. The dealership would not accept an out-of-state bank check. I had to finance the entire amount. They didn’t have an issue with titling in Texas.

I had a truck repo’ed because I moved out of the state I bought it in.

Was he financing? Dealer probably didn't want to mess with doing out of state title work.

What? This doesn't make any sense as to why?

                            Same here, wasn't an issue.

Strange. I tried to buy a sxs in Arkansas and the dealer was adamant that i had to pay Arkansas sales tax even though it would be titled in Texas. That’s when i decided i had no need to return to Arkansas.
