    $500 and under scope

Whats everyone suggestion. This scope is going on cheap savage. I beat on my guns pretty good when i use them. I haven't broke a rifle out in 5+ years. Building a cheap throw down rifle and want decent scope on it.
270 is caliber. Will finish paint tomorrow and ill start looking for new scope.

    Use a vortex crossfire

      For a $500ish scope it’s a no brainer for me. Leupold Vx3i 4.5x14.
Simple, dependable and darn good glass for the money

I put a clearance leupold 3-9x40 freedom on a throw down gun and although I paid well under retail I'd be happy paying retail for your needs

The above 4.5 leupold or the 6.5-20x44 vortex viper is now
299 on midway if you want more magnification..
          I believe it was 500..
Either way you want the best warranty for a beater Rifle..

I have been really disappointed in the crossfire and diamondback lines. Switched to a Nikon monarch on a rifle this week and feel it is much clearer! Just my .02.

Yep. If you can’t find one of those in your price range you’d still be better off with a Leupold Freedom than any low end Vortex scope out there including the Viper.

                  I've got a Meopta Meopro 4-12x50 Duplex I'd sell for $400

I had bad luck with a Vortex Crossfire. I couldn't see my feeder at 10 minutes to end of shooting light. It caused me to miss the biggest deer we've had on camera (couldn't see it to judge the spread).

I bought a Nikon ProStaff 5 the next weekend. I can see well before and well after shooting light now. I highly recommend them. They run from $200-400 depending on magnification and reticles.

I'd keep an eye out for a good used one or possibly check some of the places that sell demo/open box scopes (Euro Optic, SWFA, etc). There are good deals to be had. I picked up a used Zeiss Conquest HD5 in the classifieds a while back for $500.

If I was buying new with a $500 budget I would go with the Leupold VX3i. I have a couple of them and really think they are a great scope for the money.

Or get on Ebay and find you an old Weaver K4 and call it good
Use the rest of that money for beer and lap dances.

Midway has some screaming deals on Vortex Vipers and a few other models right now. Might check them out.
