    Back To Elevated

I screwed my bow arm shoulder up pretty bad when I fell on the river bank Saturday morning.
Shake bad on the draw, but lock up at anchor just fine. Only problem is - I am shaking the arrow off the shelf.

    Problem solved.

Doing this at 20 yards regularly, and never more than about an inch from the edge of the bullseye.
JH Broadhead / Target Arrow / Bareshaft.
I think I have things worked out in my favor.

That's an old NAP Center Flipper rest.
I put that velcro on the strike plate, and arm probably 25 years ago or so.

All I needed was one good step to get my over the final hump of the bank.

I've never bounced very well, but when you fall head long at a 50 degree downward angle for about 20 ft, you ain't gonna bounce much no matter your age.

You roll, and you slide, you flip, but you don't bounce.

I've got a good rope tied in there now.
Should have done that from the get go, but nooooooooooo - I didn't need it.
        Famous last words.

Elevated rest are much better anyway way less critical of flaws.

I would argue, that depends on how well your shelf is built.
The shelves I build, or modify shoot just as well as most elevated rests.

I shoot no better with this rest, than with the shelf. Elevated rest are definitely less trouble to tune in, but I digress.

The rest don't let the arrow fall off when I'm shaking, and that's why I put it on.

To keep the arrow on (off the shelf), I was drawing with a cant, then straightening the bow up once I hit anchor. That worked just fine to get me to full draw, but (in my opinion) it's way to much movement for hunting.

Rick, glad you thought of that Velcro rest and are back in action. Be careful now, and don’t be doing any more 20 foot headlong slides down that creek bank. Good luck.

Watch out deer, Rick's done blowing fletchings off his arrows and STILL hitting his mark!

I'm glad you aren't banged up worse'n you are, and good to see you found a way to make things work. Good luck out there!
