Killed a 2 man on a pond around navasota Saturday, seen about 20 birds on it Monday, 40 on it Tuesday, and had about 75-80 birds on it tonight. They’re finally starting to show up.

Haven't hunted this spot yet this year. It usually holds around 60-80 ducks on a normal year but I don't think there were 2 dozen around today.
That's about as pretty as a gadwall gets. Would be a cool mount.

My thoughts exactly. That is a beautiful gadwall.

...or stir-fried and rolled up in a flour tortilla with some scrambled eggs, pico, and fresh bell peppers.

Congrats on your first, and it be-n a pintail.

I took a lot of TBHers back in 2009. And their first was a sprig too. They were thick that year where I was hunting. Had to wave off shots almost every hunt. Sometimes multiple times that year.

The fish are biting, and there's hogs to be kill-t. Gotta go!

                    Nice bird! Congrats!

My first duck ever was a pintail drake too - back in the early 80s when I was a kid. About all we ever saw around Tulia were pintails and mallards, and tons of them. I didn't realize how special that was back then.

Had a Good & Fun hunt today. Right about daylight had a nutria swim right up to me & almost touch my leg. He was really surprised when I said Good mornin!! LOL!
Watched a kingfisher diving for breakfast. It was very good at catching it. I was thinking it needed to go find bigger fish. It was catching little tiny minnows right around the decoys. Lots of work for small minnows, but better than no minnows, I guess. LOL! Cool little birds for sure. Wasn't a lot of birds ,but passed on the hens to shoot some drakes. Took me till 10:30,but couldn't think of anywhere else I would rather be than in God's Country!

                            Congrats on the birds Dave.

Did that Kingfisher have one or two particular places it liked to perch for a moment or two between dives? I've watched them many times. Usually in the first half. But did see one on my last outing. I was kinda surprised to see it back so early.

Yes he did in fact. There were several old fence posts in water & he went to the same post each time.
