Yep- I'm pretty sure TPWD sets season to be PAST prime breeding dates on purpose, which made sense way back when pops were low but all indications turk pops are at historic all time highs right now. I'd have best hunts in late Feb to early March as far as calling in birds not locked down, if season was open.Comment

We’ve got a healthy hen population in the area so I’m looking forward to a fun season. Have not hunted on a place with turkeys in a very long time.
