Quinn still rocking that awful mullet, at least it’s not yellow anymore. Hopefully he brings it to the 40 like that last Texas 1.000 QB recruit did.

I dont know about #1TE, but he bound to be good. Max will be far superior to anything yall had last season. I hated to see him go.
Max's brother, Jake Johnson, is the composite #1 TE this class. 83rd overall. Most anyone is superior to what we had last year. We had Nolan Ryan out there throwing **** rockets at a 50% clip. It'll be good 3 way battle through the spring.

He spent this year getting his clock cleaned and under constant pressure. It was going to be worse next year most likely. He would have to compete at either place for a starting gig. Nussmeier and Walker Howard are both solid.

I know I had heard somewhere that he was forgoing baseball this spring to focus on football. However, now I can't seem to find anything to confirm that.

Being a baseball fan, I'd like to see his talents on the diamond as well.

Max Johnson transferred from LSU because Myles Brennan is returning for his 6th season, and he will be QB1. The only reason why Max started last year is because Brennan had a freak accident (slipped wearing crocs on a fishing trip) and broke his arm 3 weeks before the season opener. Johnson is an average signal caller who is ranked in the middle of 14 SEC QB’s. Some passes are beautiful, others are 3 feet behind a wide open receiver. Most of Johnson’s sacks and QB pressures were self inflicted. He has very little pocket awareness and holds the ball to long. Instead of having a 2 second quick release, he waits 3-4 seconds before getting rid of the ball. Rarely does he progress through reading the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th WR options. Max started 17 games for LSU and has a career 59% completion percentage, near the bottom of the SEC.

After evaluating his future starting potential in Baton Rouge, Johnson realized that he was never gonna start again at LSU. His decision to transfer had nothing to do with playing behind a poor OL and getting his clock cleaned. The future at LSU is Brennan followed by Walker Howard, then Max & Nussmeirer. If Johnson enters the 2022 season as QB3, don’t be surprised if he transfers again with Jake in tow. The Johnson’s (Brad, Momma, Max, and Jake) have made it known since day 1 in BR that the brothers want to play together in college.

If Max ends up starting for A&M, I wish the kid well except for that 1 game each year. Honestly, I don’t see him beating out Weigman for the starting position. Haynes King is a true dual-threat QB whereas Johnson is pretty much a one dimensional pocket passer.

IMO, I think Johnson and Calzada are pretty much the same player, lots of similarities. Sorry for being so long winded but that’s my observation from watching Max’s playing career at LSU. Great kid as I don’t think he has the “it” factor to lead a team to the NC

Interesting correlation between the two QBs that beat Bama this season.

Kelly is tearing up the Portal.......hope these players can right the ship till recruiting gets to where it needs to be. Kyren Lacy, big 6'3'' WR from ULL just announced. This transfer portal stuff is wild.

Thanx CB. You put it so eloquently I can only agree. Clocked cleaned? Nah. Kid aint stupid, he went to Aggies where he has a chance. He will do well, if he can get past the “deer in headlights” look. Now he may get his clock cleaned at CS.

It’s the end of the season when all kinds of wacky ideas/proposals are thrown out there. What about this one? Each power 5 conference links with a lower division conference. They take on the model of English soccer where the lowest team in each power 5 is regulated down and the winner of the lower conference moves up. It’s a fun thought experiment, at least for those who enjoy thinking. Not interested in whether you think it will ever happen, but would it be good for the sport?

I think King will start the season with Weigman taking over at some point. This being his 3rd season in Jimbo’s offense I think is what gives him the early edge.

If weigman can work his way into the lineup, I’m not sure if they’ll ever get him out.

I’ve heard this idea tossed out before. I think it would be fun, in concept. It would force some of the bottom P5 teams to invest in their programs or risk losing P5 status (and conference $$).

Excellent dissertation.... However, I ain't sold on Nuss or Howard... We're poor at evaluating quarterbacks and place too much emphasis on metrics and nowhere near enough on football ability... There's several other quarterbacks in the region I'd take long looks at..... Maybe Frank will take my advice in these matters... LOL...

I would like to apologize to all of the little people of Texas Bowhunter!

I did not realize that DeWayne and CoolHand Luke would be so insulted and offended by the little people joke!

I would be insulted by the return comments but I don’t give two ****s what the Great Moose hunter has to say about me! I know him very well and I expected something with a LITTLE SHOCKVALUE (P1 reference) to be fired back!

Again, I would like to apologize to all of my fans!

Chicago kid that has tons of talent, but is very immature. Demoted to 3rd string TE because of poor practice habits, and spent time in Saban’s doghouse. Then he called out the coaches on social media. Sark and coach Banks will have to lay down the lay and Billingsley will have to change his attitude. Basically a high risk / high reward as he will either ball out or flame out.

Cajun Blake you da'man. I can hardly keep up in this transfer portal age... Have you seen any linemen that LSU can use?

The transfer portal is essentially the wild, wild, west. Kids jumping ship for money and because they “think” they will get playing time at other programs.

Below is a list of Transfer Portal offers that have gone out since BK was hired.

(1) Miles Frazier (OT - FIU) (signed w/ LSU)

(2) Tre’Mond Shorts (IOL - ETSU)

(3) Jared Verse (DE - Albany) (signed w/ FSU)

(4) Slade Roy (LS - ECU) (signed w/ LSU)

(5) Konata Mumpfield (WR - Akron) (signed w/ Pitt)

(6) Jacob Cowing (WR - UTEP) (signed w/ Arizona)

(7) Jonah Laulu (DT - Hawaii) (signed w/ Oklahoma)

(8) Isaiah Neyor (WR - Wyoming) (signed w/ Tennessee)

(9) Nick Mardner (WR - Hawaii) (signed w/ Cincinnati)

(10) Ivan Pace, Jr. (LB - Miami-OH) (signed w/ Cincy)

(11) West Weeks (LB - UVA)(signed w/ LSU)

(12) Mekhi Wingo (DT - Mizzou)

(13) Greg Brooks Jr. (CB - Arky) (signed w/ LSU)

(14) Mekhi Garner (CB - ULL) (signed w/ LSU)

(15) Kyren Lacy (WR - ULL) (signed w/ LSU)

(16) Joe Foucha (S - Arky) (signed w/ LSU)

(17) O'Cyrus Torrence (IOL - ULL)

(18) Jeffery Johnson (DT - Tulane) (signed w/ Oklahoma)

(19) Noah Cain (RB - Penn St.) (signed w/ LSU)

Notable Portal Entrants
Beyond the aforementioned targets, several other recent entrants have some LSU 'smoke' around their recruitment. They could be receiving an LSU offer at any moment moving forward.

(a) Michael Trigg (TE -USC)

(b) Eric Reed, Jr. (CB - Auburn)

(c) Ishmael Burdine (CB - Mizzou)

(d) Montrell Johnson (RB - ULL) (committed to Florida)

(e) Tyler Steen (OT - Vandy)

(f) Latrell McCutchin (CB - Oklahoma)

(g) Tommy Brown (OT - Bama)

(h) Ameer Speed (CB - Georgia)

Remaining HS Targets
In the interest of having a consolidated reference for the remaining 2022 targets, it might as well include the final HS kids. Here goes...

(1) Jacoby Mathews (S - Ponchatoula, LA)

(2) Trevonte Citizen (RB - Lake Charles, LA)

(3) Trevor Etienne (RB - Jennings, LA) (committed to Florida)

(4) Danny Lewis (TE - New Iberia, LA)

(5) Miguel Mitchell (S - Oxford, AL)

(6) R Mason Thomas (LB - Ft. Lauderdale, FL) (committed to Iowa St.)

(7) John Rutledge (WR - Dallas, TX)

(8) Harold Perkins (LB - Cypress, TX) (committed to aTm)

Per several coaches in the region whose opinion I hold in high regard, Smith is the real deal and the best of this class of quarterbacks

I put very little faith in those so-called experts... Too much of their ratings are based on 7v7....
