Given the historic nature of the class, it is going to be a fun class to go back and look at in several years to check in on.

As bad as the season was at Texas, the off season has gone as good as it could have so far. I still think you will see some coaching movement on the defensive side of the call for Texas.

Sounds like Gary Patterson will be announced soon as a Special Assistant to the Head Coach and have his impact on the coaching staff.

Gary Patterson coming has already impacted the team. I’ve heard of a few previous 4-5 star recruits entering the transfer portal and committing to UT. They have been tough to watch ever since the departure of Mack Brown/Major Applewhite. Lots of inconsistent play on both sides of the ball with tremendous talent.

I personally like Patterson and the energy he brings to the game. He will be back in a HC seat soon but he will definitely help tu while he is in atx.

Patterson is the real deal. Hopefully his time in ATX doesn’t ruin him.

You know it was a bad season when you are happy to see players enter the transfer portal. Texas has a lot of work to do. And that is very sad given they have been in this state for a decade. But hey, this year will be different!

My main concern is who will be the starting QB. From the outside looking in I want Weigman. He has the highest ceiling from what I can see.

I don't know. If Weigman starts then King will hit the portal and you will have a depth issue. Also, starting true freshman QB's is usually bad.

There have been several to prove that statement wrong. Can't afford to have Weigman transfer. I'm for keeping the best players on the team. I've already seen TWO 5 star QBs transfer from **** poor coach management and NEVER want to see it again. King can transfer and Johnson can be the backup.

Too early to say which one comes to the forefront . . Off season and spring ball will definitely be more interesting . . It's Jimbo's to determine . .

I agree, and as much as I hate to admit it, I think Weigman is gonna be the real deal. I'd start him as a freshman if that's what it takes to keep him around, and take those lumps for a season. I believe he will be worth it.

My thoughts exactly. Give him the experience this season knowing there will be growing pains and put the real stock value in 2023 & 2024.

Looking forward to what Tech does under McGuire. He's already done leaps and bounds better than his predecessor's WRT recruiting. Let's hope this is the beginning of a good run of football seasons on the southern plains.

Agree and I have a good feeling about it! McGuire has lit a fire out there that's spreading like crazy. Love Kittley at OC and Hamby at OL. Hope the new DC can carry over the late season momentum the D showed against ISU, BU and Miss St. Been way too long and glad Tech football getting back on track.

Time to win in the Portal and notch a W in the Spring game.

Hopefully Sark adds a couple February 4th. Things are looking really good for out going and incoming when it comes to the portal.

Terrance Brooks CB
Bryan Allen S
Jaray Bledsoe DL
Justice Finkley DE
Jaylon Guilbeau CB
Maalik Murphy QB
Jaydon Blue RB
Larry Turner-Gooden S
Cole Hutson OL
Aaron Bryant DL

Two Portal transfers for Spring ball will be:
Ryan Watts CB
Quinn Ewers QB

LSU needs about 50 players to fill out their roster and just about every really good player for the Ragin Cajuns has entered the portal. Can't wait for next season

The Brian Kelly experiment will be another fun one to watch. Texas kicked the tires on him last year when they hired Sark.

I think long term it will be a good hire but short term with him cleaning house on staff and players that had bad attitudes it will take a few years to recover. I just hope fans and administration give him the few years it will take. Les and O never had to rebuild the program like Kelly has to right now.

How does it work when you have to sign so many empty spots? I assume transfer portal is where its at? do those guys count towards the previous classes?

It sure looks like Sark and Co are really working hard on recruiting and the transfer portal. Hoping to see big improvements on the field but I bet we are still a year or two away from actually competing for anything.

I thought King was a five star stud? Weigman is an EE, if he has the moxie. He'll win the job this spring. Or, is he playing baseball?

I know I had heard somewhere that he was forgoing baseball this spring to focus on football. However, now I can't seem to find anything to confirm that.

Being a baseball fan, I'd like to see his talents on the diamond as well.

Kelly is cleaning house at LSU. But also hitting transfer portal very hard. Will take a couple years to get back to where we want to be but I feel like LSU will win a game or 2 next year that they shouldn’t.

He racked up on some good players from Arkansas and Penn St in the last couple of days. Frank Wilson working the portal.

I'm pleased to see a few key Aggie starters sticking around with Ainias Smith and Demani Richardson. I think they're big pieces to our potential success next year.

I firmly believe in the Big 12, Tech will be the big ? Mark. Their defense last year was way better than it has been in years for the most part but their offense was hit and miss. The coaching change unlike the past few did not solely concentrate on a coach with an air raid offense and no defense.
TX should be better period, OU who knows.
A&M better win 9 or 10 this next year and compete for the conference title and NC in-the next 2-3 years or it will not be good.

Definitely dodged some drama with this dude!

USC WR Bru McCoy has re-entered the transfer portal, @TheAthletic has learned.

The former 5-star recruit and Texas signee did not play in 2021.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Johnson ends up being the starter to start fall ball. He actually had **** good numbers at LSU last season. At minimum, he will be quality depth and he brought his brother, the #1 TE in the country, with him.

He will win the starting job. Max had very good numbers on a very bad LSU team.
I dont know about #1TE, but he bound to be good. Max will be far superior to anything yall had last season. I hated to see him go.

Question is why did he go if he is so good wouldn’t he want to stay and be the starter at LSU?

He spent this year getting his clock cleaned and under constant pressure. It was going to be worse next year most likely. He would have to compete at either place for a starting gig. Nussmeier and Walker Howard are both solid.
