    Stand and Fill Feeder?

Anyone built a stand and fill using a 55 gallon drum for the corn hopper? If so please post some pictures.

Thanks! I’ve built several of these, but with material prices now, I quit. I’d have to charge too much to make it worth my time.

Not really sure. It has 3 ft legs which makes the top of the barrel a few inches over my head. Easy to fill from the ground.

Is yours hog tested? I have been thinking about converting my taller ones. Concerned about the hogs though.

We built some pretty much identical to this for Mexico, and those **** baby bear size Racoons can still reach the plate... Do you have issues with that in texas?

I will answer that. YES, if the bastages can reach the ones I had that were built out of 85gal barrels I can promise you they can reach the 55gal barrels. Unless you install the Eliminator or SpinTech type spinner plates, the only way to keep them from reaching the spinner is to build the varmint cage with the smaller holes. Like 1”x2” max. You have to keep them from being able to get their shoulders inside the cage.
Schleicher County has Boone and Crockett size coons. Here is my 85gal barrels prior to adding the SpinTech spinner plates.

Here is my latest build with a barrel. I currently don't have any issues with coons. They will try, but move on since they are unsuccessful.

Yes, hogs haven’t destroyed anything, but yes, the coons will reach in there and spin the plate. The Eliminator plate would probably take care of that problem, but I just have the regular spinner plate with the flaps.
