To close to call. A little faster, lighter bullet and a little slower, heavier bullet.

I like them both and have killed many animals with each, but prefer a 280

I’m thinking really hard about having my 06 re-worked into a .280. I don’t know why...180gr Accubond will handle probably anything I’ll ever hunt. But a 7mm-08 magnum really appeals to me.

30-06! But only because I grew up with it, plenty bullet weight and knockdown for the average situation.

I would take my 7 mag over the 30-06. A little flatter and more energy. Either will do the job and I would choose the rifle you are most confident with.

7mag....I must add the disclaimer though....I am a self professed 30-06 hater. And yes....I know how versatile it is.

I've owned both and now I just own a 30-06.

Which ever you can carry up the mountains for a few days. Is one a heavier rifle than the other, I like a lighter weight rifle for mountain hunting or hunting on foot.

7 mag smokes a fuddy-06 any day. With ease. I own both.

                      30-06 won’t launch a 180 grain Berger at 3075 fps

I have to vote 7 Mag.

It was the first rifle I ever owned.

I vote for .280ai over the 7mm mag. Less recoil **** near 7mag performance.

Sako 7mm Long Range gets my vote! With the best glass you can afford!
