    Trans Pecos mule deer thread..............

What happened to all the mulies in the trans pecos??? I hunted there a couple of weeks ago and saw ONE mule deer buck. I saw a few does, but not many as I had in the past yrs.

My buddy that owns the large spread says he has seen a huge die off on mulies. I am not saying this is CWD etc. I do hope it is just from the last drought.

We actually had some mule deer show up for the first time this season. Several smaller bucks.
NW Val Verde county about 8 miles east of Pecos river.

Drought hammered on numbers, but have bounced back greatly last 2 years.
We are seeing tons of deer, although 6-8 year old bucks are few.
This has been a weird hunting year, as green as it has been and all the moisture.
Best year for horns in past 20 years without a doubt.
Some absolute hogs have been killed this year.

      Not cwd.

2011 drought did a number on the deer. Even till last yr though we saw a few deer. This yr has been really slow though. I'm a bit gun shy as to even mention CWD and where it may be. Hudspeth County was the first county in Texas a few yrs ago and found in mulies.

Was found last year as well in 2 bucks. (Cwd)
None this year so far, according to biologist couple of days ago.
All confined to certain mtn range.

Time to revive an old thread. Is anyone seeing Mulies out there in greater numbers? Im on a massive lease near Sonora this year, hoping they are filling out their range by now.
