Good question. That's one thing we need more of around Houston. I am in Tomball and either shoot out to 200yds at blackwood or longer at American Shooting Centers.

For a population area this large in Texas you wouid think there would be more options.

I thought it was crazy when a guy in CA told me he has to drive 2 hours one way.

This is a problem is West Texas boys don’t have I’ve got a 1020 yd private range 3 miles from my office that I regularly visit during lunch. I’ve got a prairie dog spot I can shoot on that the furthest we’ve shot is 1068, but I could probably get 1250 out of if we decided to set up right. At the lease I can easily get past 2500. At a buddies we’ve got steel set up to 1818, and can get 2450+ when we decide to work for it. Oh yeah and we’ve got a private range 20 miles from my house that goes to 800. It went to 1100 until the neighbors built a new house and started complaining even though they were 60 degree to the east of our targets, and another 2 miles behind.

West Texas isn’t pretty, but it does have its advantages!

So reducing from 1100 yards to 800 yards made the neighbor happy?

A lot larger berms were at the 800 yd mark. I didn’t deal with the neighbors personally. Just what my buddy who owns the place said. We had the 1100 yd line up for 6 months before we pulled it down. Issues have been non existent since then.
