I've been fortunate enough to get my 4 target bucks over the past 4 years but this one may be a bit trickier this year so we shall see

I dont have a say after they hit 4.5 unless they are over 170”. They are on the border of the neighboring property so the guys that pay the bills aren’t patient enough to let him go.

I can make a case for them being our top end deer. They make it til 6.5

That’s the best way I’ve found to keep from hi grading.

Sounds like you need a high fence. How big is the place ?

I have nice genetics on our small 300 acre place and no mature deer
We actually had older bucks in Leon county because they could hide in the dense brush and became wary if they made it to maturity.

This one might be. All depending on what he looks like body wise come October/November. Itís too hard to age them during the summer unless we have a known history. If itís the buck I think it is heís probably 5-6 yrs old, if that is correct heíll get a pass til next year at minimum.

We've had a buck with a third beam on that right side in 2019 and two of them in 2020 with a similar frame shape. Last year we only had one but his frame wasn't anything like this one. A lot of our mature bucks will disappear at 4-6 yrs old then show back up, which leads me to think its the bucks i'm thinking he is.

This is my best looking prospect. Canít seem to match him up to any particular deer from the past 2 years. Iíve got several 7 pts or goofy racks that I might let my son squeeze the trigger on. Thereís definitely some weird genetics floating g around for 7 pts.

This guy get my attention, this is year 3 that he has eluded us. He has been seen by some hunters that were on doe patrol or just came through to fast tailing. Pic was from right after Christmas last year, He doesn't live on our place but shows up around that time.

I bet this is year he takes a dirt nap..

Yall have some nice prospects.

The bucks I was hoping to take this year unfortunately took a hit on mass and tine length, assuming due to the drought and lack of natural growth. May have to put some does in the freezer instead.
