Default Bodies in the Beach Dunes….

Going kinda dark here…..but after seeing some sketchy stuff the last few trips
To the beach I’ve been wondering how many bodies are put in the dunes. Im thinking pretty often over the years.

I recall a Texas Monthly article a few years back about the Houston Candy Man Don Coryell and all the victims that he buried at High Island. The HPD actually stopped digging after they broke the record and didn’t want the count too high.

Any stories or experiences with the subject?

And the bodies were buried at a boat storage in High Island which is a salt dome and not on the beach.

There are probably a lot of bodies buried in the dunes alone the Texas coast. Finding them would probably require digging up most of the islands and sifting the sand. I know when I lived on the coast, guys would bury their trucks or cars in the dunes. They were trying to go 4 wheeling and found the hard way the dunes ain't what they thought. The majority of those vehicles are still buried in the dunes. It would only take a week, or two after they got stuck for the vehicle to be completely buried or just having the roof visible.

I would imagine, if someone dumped a body in the dunes, it would not take long, before it would be gone. I guess cadaver dogs could probably find them, don't know. I would bet money there are quite a few bodies along North and South Padre, as remote as those islands are.

If you don't feel like getting sandy looking for bodies in the dunes, go hit the seawall in Galveston. Grab some ice cream & walk the seawall & enjoy the sounds of the gulf. Take a seat and listen real hard..

You can hear the screams of the 8000 deceased that your sitting on top of.

There are dead bodies everywhere. Most people don’t know over 500 bodies are found along US highways annually and almost all go unsolved. Truck drivers = serial killers.

There used to be a road behind the dunes that you could run down to the jetties. When you cross the dunes at Yarboroughs pass you could hang left and haul but t down there. Many a night you would see vehicles and lights in the flats. Not saying thats what they were doing but you were out of sight out of mind back there.
I never knew about the article posted, that's pure evil right there.

Two streets over from where I grew up….

The real candy man was Dean Coryle, if you want to get into some crazy stuff listen to The Clown and the Candyman on Podcast.

Dean lived in Pasadena, Deer Park and graduated from Vidor but most people have never heard of him around here….

I don’t believe the Elmer Wayne in that story actually killed anyone, aside from being an accessory.

I've read all about that case. Elmer did participate in six killings, but he was definitely a kid that was groomed by the real killer, Dean Corll. In the end, Corll turned on him and Henley killed the Candyman. Fascinating story and so sad.

Probably the most infamous “Wayne” and it was missed. It would be like wondering if any killer had the last name of Bundy.

He buried some of the bodies up near Broadus about 50 or so yards from where my buddy’s dad built a lake house. I am sure you can still see them, but 15 years or so ago you could walk over to the dug up graves. He also had a picture of the local Sheriff in a book where he was standing beside the graves, I thought he was messing with me but the trees matched up perfectly.

Texas is the second highest state for having the most serial killers, California is number 1. I was surprised until I thought about the size of the two states and population etc. makes sense.

I would think less on NPINS because they get your plates in the way in and out.

That's an old list from 2003. There's probably more Waynes that could be added over the last 19 years.

Never heard much about bodies in dunes, however, growing up south of Houston, we always heard about the killing fields. I think most of the area has subdivisions all around it now and most people living in the homes probably don't have a clue. Pretty crazy how many people over the years were dumped just off the freeway between Leauge City and Galveston. Many cases went unsolved.

The killing fields, the Dunes, the creeks, the prison farms bodies are everywhere. When Sienna Planation started the new development developers found many bodies of Karankawa Indians. We had located the chief who came and verified they were here and that was them. It turned into a sacred spot and had to stop development. Bodies are dumped along all major highways weather it be human trafficking or serial killing is to be determined. Some go unidentified some get located and returned to their home country for burial. Typically if we have a unidentified Hispanic male or female within a couple days family members from the country they left start calling until they find them

I remember me and dad fishing at high island when they were digging. The literally dug up miles of beach with heavy equipment. Lots of bodies in that sand I bet.

They dug up a lot of bodies right there in Sugar Land right off 59 a year or two ago where the new UH campus is now sitting. Had to stop development until they could relocate the bodies. Never could figure out where they were relocated to? If I recall correctly all the bodies were African Americans.

Yes that is it. We are talking about the same plot where the UH technical university is. Did they relocate them? Or just leave them down there?
