Looking at the date, zoomed and contrast changed, the 5 looks more like a 6 because it is not completely square at the top but you can see a slight bend downward at the top right edge of the number.

The 5 or 3 in the third spot has a flat top, making it appear more likely a 5 since the 3 in 57 was rounded. No way that is rounded. The problem is that there is no down stroke on the “5”.

              Hmmm….

So a Google image check of 1957 Texas Farm Truck shows it that year to be neither but it has to be one or the other.

But here is the problem, the format is wrong. In 57 the state and year were on top.

Since I thought it was a 67 and not a 57 anyway, a Google image search of a 1967 Texas Farm Truck plate answered the riddle (hopefully), It is the correct format with the year (67) in the lower right corner, Texas in the bottom AND… the 3 that year had a flat top like a 5 where in 57 it was rounded.

That if why there is no 5 downstroke.

I think he shot so many holes in it then flipped it over.

The significance of leaving that license plate in place on that tree speaks volumes to me for you and your Familiy’s love and respect for your land. Most people would probably thinks it trivial.
