    A month too late/soon!! DANGIT!!

Well this rain and slight cool down has the rut kicking off big time here in Brazoria county... Bucks are now tending and chasing pretty hard..
The rut will be near the tail end before we can legally sling an arrow...
It happens early every year now for the last 20+. It used to peak in October back in the day..

Good ole Gulf Coast Prairie deer. They do the same in Chambers County. Usually starts mid September.

Good thing is that will get them past 90% of gun hunters that just want to fill a tag.

                Isn't Brazoria considered east Texas?

I didn't know you folks had hunting season!

The deer in my avatar was taken the first day of archery season in Brazoria county and yes it was at the end of the rut.

What does the rain/weather have to do with it when you say it happens every year for the last 20+ years?

That's what I was thinking. I was guessing early rut was good. That way the deer aren't still stuck in that routine of moving during day light! (really messes up spotlighting...)

I noticed a big uptick in activity on my cams yesterday as well. Nothing like the entire season being post rut.

Weather doesn't impact rut timing. Weather impacts how much rut goes on in the daylight hours.
