    DIY youth stock

I wanted to get my 6 year old started but struggled finding a decent youth rifle and didn’t want to cut up a nice stock that would be out grown in a few years. I took my old Remington 700 BDL .243 and decided to try and build something with it. I picked up a SPS short action stock off of eBay for $25, a Limb saver grind to fit recoil pad, and a piece of kydex. I cut the stock with a miter saw, added 3/4” plywood to the inside to screw the recoil pad to, then sanded away the factory check weld with a belt grinder. I formed the kydex with a heat gun to make the adjustment check rest, drilled the holes and painted everything. Came out alright and I was able to fit him to the gun since he is a smaller kid. Should last him a couple of years until I can put the factory stock back on.

That is super cool. And glad you didn’t cut up the original stock.

Thanks, couldn’t cut the old BDL, they don’t make them like the use too!

Nice job. This is what I need to do to a few guns. I've got a short trigger pull my self. And most factory stuff is un comfortable. I did to it to one of my shotguns/slug guns. Mad a huge difference.
