She got a short break from college and we took a quick trip to the ranch in Comstock to put her on one of several 8 pts that we have out there. Low and behold one of them showed up on our first evening sit.
You can see in the pic, that the shot was marginal and she was very upset about that. She realized it immediately with the reaction of the buck at the shot. The 130gr Hornady SST still made a short track though. We talked about what caused her to do that and discussed ways to alleviate it next time. We got down to go look maybe 5 mins after the shot and I jumped the buck right where I thought I’d seen him go down. We backed out and went back 2.5 hours later and he’d gone around another 30 yds and was stone dead. She was one happy daughter and I was proud as can be.
We didn’t take many photos because we’ve seen a lion 2 times in this bottom and the deer looks like it had been drug around from where the trail ended. Snapped one pick and said grab that side baby girl and let’s get him out of here. Good luck the rest of the season gents and ladies. Thank you.
