    Cattle Opinions

I got 10 acres, central Texas, which breed of cattle (1-2 head), should I consider? My primary consideration is keeping the yard mowed for me, butchering would be secondary. Any advice or do's don'ts? Thanks!

Not to hijack OP post, but do you know of any mini cow breeders in the area?

Get a couple of Brahman steers, they deal with heat really well and will keep the low hanging trees and bushes trimmed up also. When your ready they will have plenty of good structure to fill a freezer.

Or Goats, they cost about the same when their young nowdays.

I have strongly been considering mini herfords or a mini aberdeen x hereford, or just pure aberdeen, but all of these seem hard to come by? Any leads?

mixture of a few goats for grass and sheep for weeds. Process or sell at the local sale barn as needed

The mini seem to increase their attitude the smaller you get.

I raise mini herefords on my 10 acres in town. They are perfect for small places.

Have a heifer calf born in Sept 2020 and a bull calf born Nov 2020 about ready to sell. Not registered but come from previously registered stock. I'm in Mason.
