Finally got a minute to catch up and post a few pics.

Weíve really been missing home and all the nice weather....

Courtney says that live hunts are sometimes a jinx, so this is expressly, definitely NOT a live hunt!

Took the flight from Dallas to Paris and then on to Dublin.

After a night at the dog track, and seeing the sights in the city, we rented a car in Dublin and drove down to the far tip of Ireland to the Dingle Peninsula.

More later....

Made the long drive up the coast and back to Dublin for a quick hop to Edinburgh, Scotland

This was your basic European cheap prop plane, which always makes Courtney a little bit nervous....

Ireland is beautiful! Chilly compared to here this time of year. I still have family in Tralee, they run a pub there. My family is from that area of Ireland (Valentia Island). Have fun and good luck!

Cool! Looks like a fun trip! It's awesome that they bottle DP in Dublin.

One word of caution about the Dingle area.... Whatever you do, do NOT eat the berries.

Is that Waterford Castle? If not, a striking resemblance.

EDIT: It's not, but your pic looks just like the back of it. We also stayed a couple of days at Nuremore, which I suggest if you have the chance. We happened upon it somewhat by accident.

we used the outfitter's gun (actually it belonged to the guide who has the permission to hunt on the property where this deer was taken)

they call them stalkers, not guides, over here - and that's exactly what we did to get this nice little "crackah" of a buck

Court will post the story when she isn't on her phone -- that plus the fact that it's 11:20 over here and we leave to go hunt in the morning at 4:15

The actual gun use was kind of interesting - the gun wasn't ever loaded until we were ready to shoot, and was in a gun case until we got onto the property and then back in the case before we left the farm where we hunted.

Every time a shell was loaded in the chamber, he showed us both and then every time he unloaded it he showed us the empty chamber.

The bolt was open every time it was put back in the vehicle and he mentioned the bolt being open each and every time.

Not a bad practice, just a little different than the way we do it.
