We were drawn as a group, so we had 4 tags. We caught this monster and a smaller one about 6 ft. They were both caught off of the main bayou near the mouth of a canal going back into the marsh. They were caught on a pole set with nice ripe chicken for bait. We struggled with this guy for probably 30 min before we able to get a shot and dispatch it. It took 3 shots to kill it. The first shot glanced off its jaw and just made it mad. The second shot was good but gave it a third just to make sure. We tried for another 30 min or so trying to get it in the boat. Finally just tied it off to the side of the boat.
