Trout fishing

Finally got out and did a little trout fishing yesterday.
Didn't find any sheds so the fish got my attention.

Small stream, hungry trout and cold water. Panther Martin spinners with 6 lb test on a lightweight rod.
All released successfully. We don't prefer trout for eating.

I caught about 8 good trout , none huge but still fun fighters.
The creek is coming back from the flushing we had a couple of years back.
Browns and brookies are doing well.
I need to get my fly rod out, this stretch of the creek is really open and fly fishing friendly.

Yep, that's the beauty of catch and release.

This little stream had 2 lb browns in it a few years back then a couple of big flash type floods and they were gone for a while. Just now coming back.
I always release my trout catches if possible.
I'm going to try the bigger fork of the Sybille next week, if weather cooperates.
It's a willowy nightmare for casting.

Nice! I think one of my favorite trout fishing days is from several small streams in WY catching little brookies hand over fist. Trout season just ended for us down here, and like you we had a flood in October that took all our browns. Luckily a number of our big rainbows made it through.
