July 2020 entry thread.... give me your best shot.

One entry per person. Photo must be captured in the month of July 2020.

Give me your best shot. This is an open topic, anything goes! I hope we get to see some creativity!

July 2020 entry thread.... give me your best shot.

I figured an open topic would allow our photographers a chance to express themselves as a photographer as well as include subject matter they are passionate about.

A few examples from the last few weeks.

These were all taken during the month of July...

That’s freaking cool. I still haven’t mastered the night shots.

I played around with capturing the comet tonight. What was your setup to capture this impressive shot?

I was using the Canon EOSR with the 24-105 f4. Usually was stopped down to f4 for most shots, tried to keep my ISO less than 5000, and then just playing around with different shutter speeds til I got the look I wanted, which will depend a lot on how dark it is where you're at. In this case it was very dark, so this was probably a 6-10 second exposure. Focus is the hard part. If you have a lens that has a reliable "infinity" mark that definitely helps. Otherwise use live view if your camera has it and zoom in on a distant star (doesn't have to be the comet itself) and that will pretty much guarantee you're focused to infinity.
