Gun Deer opener 2020

Anyone know how TPWD decides when opening day is? Vacation folder making its rounds at work and was wondering when gun season was opening. Would they open it on Oct 31 or Nov 7?

Gun opener in Texas is always the first Saturday in November.

I emailed TPWD for the same reason. Vacation book making rounds and didn’t want to miss it. They replied November 7th.

I don't gun hunt but for some reason I thought it was always the Saturday closest to Nov 1st. Guess I was wrong.

I believe you are thinking of bow season which is usually the Saturday closest to October 1st I believe.

Sucks how the dates work out next year. Rifle season will be 7 days shorter than it was this year. Five days on the front end and two on the back end.

That ought to put bow opener October 3rd. It’s typically 5 Saturdays before rifle

General Season 1st Sat in Nov.
All other seasons are based off that date.
Youth weekend is the weekend before.
Archery season is 5 weeks before.
