Just put a water trough for the deer at my house

I’m wondering what I can put in my trough once in a while to keep the algae from growing? Possibly some bleach or chlorine? What have y’all used? Thanks

Gold fish or black salties .

Go to the pet store and buy several algae-eater catfish---or get a couple of tilapia maybe? Might even try some small bullheads/mudcats

I would like to do the fish part but the trough is not very deep, I think they would be coon food pretty quickly

Get some of the small house bricks and put them in. Give the fish a place to hide. I put 3 dozen in a water trough with no cover and they survived 3 yrs before being wiped out. Need to put more I

A teaspoon of coper sulfate will keep the algae away.

Go stir it every day and you’ll be good.

We always used goldfish in our water troughs , we had some cement pipes for them to hide in.

Now I have Mary Poppins in my head.

I have young daughters, that’s my excuse

See above. Scrap copper wire coiled up will work fine.
