Default New "real Id" and federal hunts ???

searched and did not see a thread...

I got a drivers license renewal notice...2 years in advance because of the new federal law in October 2020.
From what I am reading, you have to have a "real Id" that has a gold star or something on your license(ID) in order to utilize federal stuff...like airports etc.
I think the requirements for identification are stricter.

Also, does this apply to the federal hunts like Laguna Atascosa and Hagerman?

Anyone know the skinny on this?

Dont know about the ramifications on federal hunts or lands...to early to know where this BS is going. I can tell you that this is some serious over reach by our government. Stranger days are headed our way.

My understanding this gold star is for Home Land Security purposes. I have not changed mine yet and not sure how long I've got to change mine. Figure I'll wait till my liscence expires. Maybe I'm wrong but my opinion I'm legal till it expires.

You also have to get a chip in your right hand, it's in the pen you sign with, won't feel a thing.

What if you're left handed? I have a roll of tin foil if anyone needs some.

Don't think so. Mine is good till 10-2021, but the notice says that effective 10-2020 you have to have the gold star ID to get into airports etc...

wondering if federal hunting areas will be forced to adhere to it.

Check your drivers license, it may already have the gold star, mine does and I didn't do anything special to get it.

There are only a few states that didnít upgrade to this system years ago. Now citizens in some states are having to update their ID earlier than scheduled. Itís only necessary if youíre going to fly or access certain federally controlled facilities. If you have a current passport or passport ID card you can just use that. No need for the tin hats. Itís just an upgrade to make counterfeiting IDís more difficult - a good idea in the world we live in these days and our porous border down here.

Just carry your passport when you fly until you upgrade

I doubt I'll get to do mine online next year too only because it's been so long since my last visit / updated pic.

If you don't want the chip in your hand you can opt for the QR code tattoo on your forehead

Texas has been issuing these for a while likely most people will have a new enhanced one before this goes into effect. Most people didnít even notice the change.

I just renewed. The renewal notice said I was eligible to renew online or thru the mail because the last time I renewed was in person at a DL Office. I mailed so I could get the VET designator.

My DL doesn't have the star but I have a "known traveler" ID card from TSA---and I get to go to the short line at airport security with it.

Texas has been doing this for a while. Oklahoma is still one of the holdouts that haven't updated their drivers licenses yet. As long as I can still get in to hunt Mcaap I am not worried about it here.

Back to the future? This time it's for our safety....lol! I guess this "good star" will solve our illegal alien issue.....not! Far from tinfoil, just another incredulous way to keep track of law abiding citizens.

I've had it on my Texas DL for a while and don't remember jumping through any hoops. The guy did take me into a dark room, strip searched me, some minor fondling and probing but nothing too bad. I think he had a smoke afterward...

Actually do have the star and don't remember how it got there. Maybe they just knew the legend of "Hargerman", "Tommy Lee", "George Michael" and "The Wise One".

I had to go in person a couple months ago to renew. Just a heads up, they are requiring you to bring in a birth certificate along with all the other stuff if you have to renew in person. Gotta make sure all the cattle are branded I suppose.

Found this article looking at an Oklahoma Facebook post about real id and thought some on here would find it interesting.

https://reason.com/2019/01/15/americ...s8leFpviQRzy4U

This is also a checklist of what we will have to have to get our Real ID licenses here in Oklahoma next year.
