Any TBHers paddling this year? I'll cheer y'all on (but you gotta be fast).
I'll be running the banks for my sister this year again, Boat #357 Single Bladies (5 women team).

Good luck to all the paddlers.

Brad, keep an eye out on the paddlers out there for us.

I had a very good friend and his partner win the very 1st TWS in 1963. His name was Jimmy Jones and his buddy was Lynn Maughmer. They were both Houston Police officers and to hear Jimmy tell how grueling it was would make you amazed at human endurance. Good luck and safe journey to all.

Good luck boys and girls! Should have a good flow this year.
I finished in 83 hours in 2014. Have not had the itch to do it again.

Ian and daughter passed 26 miles, single Bladies right with them. It's a group of 5-7 boats running tight

Canoe1 - is that Melissa James' team you are following? My partner and I were at Gonzales checkpoint in 2014 when her partner quit. She was crushed for about 15 mins- got over it and threw a big log in the front of her canoe for ballast and took off with it solo.
One of the most impressive things I've ever seen- mad respect! Believe she finished just after the cutoff that year but we've rooted for her since.

Good morning from Cheapside.
Girls should be here around 8am.
I haven't seen Ian's bank crew lately, but lots of Team Captains took a nap on the long wait from Gonzalez to Hochhiem.

I went and spectated for a few hours this afternoon at the Cheapside checkpoint. Pretty neat to see how the "Teams" worked together. You knew when a team was coming in because a group with fresh water bottles were getting ready to hand them off at the check-in point. What is the advantage of the thermoses with the hoses everyone was using? Just curious. Hats off to men and ladies competing because its been some hot and humid days and I imagine there is not much breeze down on the river with the steeper banks before reaching the coastal flatlands. Hope all the competitors stay safe.

Salt water Barrier in 6th overall, 8 minutes behind 5th place boat, slowly closing in.
But they might be delayed having to put on the spray skirt for the bay. I don't think it's bad, but could always turn.

The coastal mosquitoes are no joke!
They should be finishing around 2-3am.
