That's a unique buck. Looks great.

The guys in the pro shop were watching the ping of that carts GPS system thinking we have a runner! I pulled up and thought to myself. That's cool the pro came over to eat with us.

I think somebody dropped a bag of corn out of their truck on purpose. They were sitting out there watching football drinking a cold beer and hunting

The boys were out topping off feeders today. Looks like the Apple corn was the winner! They couldn't wait to get in the pen. The broom weed is in fine form too.
I hope everyone has the best hunting season ever. Stay safe and post some LDPs soon.

Just eased up to the stand. I have zero regrets about building that pen. A lot of deer activity already.

In the past week Iíve had more activity from 9-12 AM FYI.

Good luck to everyone hunting this weekend.

Default First trip of the season

Sat on the oat patch Friday evening and saw 78 deer, 27 were bucks. A few 130-140ish types.
Sat in the tin can Sat morning and saw a 3-4yr old 130ish young one. Gonna be ok in a couple of years. 2 other dinks and 8 doe. Sat in the Southwest corner and saw a really nice 4yr old 140, 10, no pictures and 6 doe.

We retired our 13 yr old bbq pit and brought in a rookie. We went way over board on new lights for camp too.

Great weekend! The group saw some good uns.

Only one hit the ground. Mid 50s I'd guess.

Default Middle of north texas 3rd annual thread..second edition!!

Well I got a case of buyers remorse/ground shrinkage on Monday. This young fella stepped out at 7 AM. He went behind a cedar and started tearing up a tree limb. Beautiful looking deer from 100 yards out.

I put the binos on him for a second and saw the forks off his main beams. I just knew it was the target buck that i had on camera. Well after ground checking him it wasnít. Iím still a little irritated but heíll eat. Our lease doesnít have any management practice and if he stepped out in front of someone else he likely would have been shot. Iím not making an excuse for myself because this deer would have been a dandy in another year or two. I would have liked to let him walk but too late now.

17Ē wide and scored 115Ē +/-.

I'm heading out at 3. Hoping to be in the blind by 5 for about a hour sit... I have a really good deer I've been seeing for 6 years now since we got on the lease but he is old and smart. Hopefully he will make a mistake this weekend... and hopefully he is still alive (havent seen him on cam since opening weekend of rifle) but that's nothing new he usually disappears until rut when the boom sticks come out.

Anyone see the benefit of feeding a 40% corn, 30% roasted soybean, 30% Record Rack nugget mix from a spin cast feeder after season? It shouldnít clog up with that ratio. Now that I have a pen and wonít be feeding hogs, I may do that in the off season. No one feeds corn until August/September. No one else has a pen to keep hogs out either. Good idea or waste of time and money?

Iím reluctant to spend all the money on free choice protein as no one else on the place would be on board to help out with the cost.
