Just got back home from a trip to Wilbarger County this weekend. Saw one doe with a fawn that still had spots. It was hot. It is also GREEN, Green, Green. I suspect that without a hard, early, freeze, it's going to be tough to get a deer on the ground. But, i'll be back trying again next weekend. Good luck everyone!!

Glad I took off next Friday. Me and a buddy are heading outThursday night to Jack County.

Weather looks really good for next weekend. High in the mid 60s and the low will be low/mid 40s! Pretty excited to see what shows up.

I'm not very smart as you already know. I ve got 3 golf tournaments in a row the next three weeks. Don't want to make the deer nervous by blasting doves anyway

Me and Snoop made a speed run out today to hang a gametamer ahead of next weekends cold front, and put some feed out. Cameras are still showing squat, aside from an aoudad.

Iím gonna try to be there Thursday night though. Forecast is 41 degrees sat morning.

I know another member who saw some north of Olney a month or two ago, so there are some around. Iím gonna kill any I see, Iíd just as soon they werenít around.

I guess there are a few spread out in the area. I hope to see one one day while I'm in the tree. Shoot on sight on all aoudads!

Nothing good to report. None of us have seen much movement. A few pigs have been killed and thatís it.

Out of 6500 pics I bet 6200 were hogs. Iím disappointed.

I had a little trashy buck come by my tripod this morning. He licked a licking branch and urinated in a scrape about 7 yards from me. Came around and stood broadside, head down and eating corn, head hidden by bush like we've been taught, everything was perfect. Just the wrong deer. He wandered off never knowing it was his lucky day. Put the bow down. Looked one way, turned around and a bobcat was walking through the feeder pen. Disappointing result, but pretty cool experience.

Would really like for some sustained cold weather. Some rain would be nice. The rancher got everything planted. But the ground is so dry it's like powdered powder. Hard to drive in. Oh well...

This one tried to get me to kill him for an hour Friday, but there was a much bigger one back in the trees that just wouldnít come in. I busted them yesterday walking in 40 yds from my tree, so I just dumped out my corn and eased out.

There were 3 bucks in the group, and they were starting to look pretty irritated with each other, but they fed around on my hand corn and acorns for an hour and never moved outside a 100yd circle. They just arenít moving very far, and the ground is covered in acorns. Get down in the thick stuff boys...

I did see 6 deer on a corn row yesterday afternoon.

Next Saturday wonít be too late to build a pen right? I wouldnít be back to hunt until rifle opener. Pen would be approx. 8-9 panels as I already have a 2 strand barbed wire fence in place for cattle.

Iím thinking put up cattle panels on the back side and hog panels with a top barbed wire for cows on the front side closest to my ladder stand.

Decided Iím tired of hogs camping under my feeder at 6:00 AM and seeing no deer.

Never to late. I would do at least 12 panels. Do it right the first time and the bigger the better. Its a little more expensive but the deer will like it much better.

Last year they were rutting from October 1 on. It was really strange. Rubs scrapes every where. I haven't been out this year yet. None of our guys said have said anything about it. The bucks are still together from what they are seeing. Our place is weird though.

That was a super nice 8!

I've got several pictures of buck scraps in feeder pens from last weekend. I had a young buck work a scrape a few yards from me last weekend. If you're a horn rattler, nows the time.

Itís been a long day... hit the road at 5:30 AM and got back around an hour ago. 400 miles, two tanks of fuel and Iíve got a pen built. Came out to about 9 panels.

Surprisingly, my camera showed more deer activity the last week than it had the previous 2 months with much less hog activity. Thoughts on this deer?

Pen and set up looks good.

The deer is very hard to tell with that picture. Good mass for sure but everything else looks mid range on score. I'd say 135ish. Nice deer no matter what.
He has a big ole head and small body. Or the angle is weird and makes everything out of whack.

I was more curious to see if yíall think he makes 13Ē? I think heís closer to 14Ē myself. Trying to talk myself into being patient and passing on him next time I go which will be opening weekend of rifle. I know thereís a few 140-150 class deer running around.

But I also know once the rifle hunters show up it will be WWIII and he among others have a good chance at being shot.

Post up some youth pictures from this weekend. I didn't get to go again

Will be at it with my grandson next weekend.

One of our guys sat in a blind we call potatoe hill. You can see 15 miles in every direction. He said he saw 45 bucks tonight. 7 or 8, 3-4 yr old 140 inch 10 points.
Said the weather was spectacular!
