I swear every yearling spike in Anderson County has found me over the last week. They’re following me like a veenirial disease. Beyond that I think everything that can go wrong has.

Hunted in HouCo this morning. Had two young bucks chasing one doe very hard. 30 mins later I had three does come out, didn’t seem to be bothered by anything, and I harvested the largest doe.

I was going to let her lay and keep hunting but the **** buzzards were already flying around. Crazy how fast they are.

Good luck in the area! Best weekend to be out, in my opinion.

Dead deer all over HWY 19.

Been scouting hogs for 2 weeks for this weekend. Guy from Reno this evening behind trigger and lady from Nebraska I believe tomorrow evening. I still got em but geeezzzz this general season has scattered the flock! They ain’t killed a $&@% one... just scattered. What was a 30 minute slam dunk might be an all night grind

Sittin on pig patrol and a pretty good deer cruises by at 30. Circles the feeder and heads out. He looked wore smooth out. Mouth open and drool hangin from his mouth 10"

Then get this from wife and she says....im on the fence about him.

I agree the deer could age but shes 22 yards on the ground and hes locked on a doe. Off they go

I realize a lot of people have seen and/or killed some great bucks this season, but for me it’s shaping up to be one of the slowest I’ve had in a while.

Anybody else seeing nada mucho?

My season has been a little weak also. I have seen a total of 6 deer and missed 2 doe opportunities. My buddy killed one spike. That is our total for the season. I expect that to change soon.

.....and God Bless America.

I donít have many sits in NE Texas but yes. I would say 15 sits at the most. Iíve seen deer on 3 or 4 sits. In the past i would usually see deer half the time or more. Iím blaming it to more neighbors hunting and pulling deer from where I hunt.

We've been seeing plenty deer and lots of up and comers. All of us have passed perfectly legal deer (some that shouldn't have been). I havent been blanked on a sit yet. In fact the least amount of deer in one sit is 3 and as many as 10.

Did a little upgrading to dads stand. He fell smooth off the stairs Monday. While doing that dogos stirred up a rat that was worthy of a 223 round

Another great weekend in the woods

Not bad. Years of being selective are paying off. I took a nice 8 Monday and a big cull 6 Wed.

No complaints here. Last four days I just relaxed and worked around camp. Freezer is full

Saw my target buck last night, and he looks great in person. Problem was he was hot on a doe, and she never ran into bow range. Tried snort wheezing but he only had 1 thing on his mind! Hopefully will get another chance at him...although itís sounded like a war zone at the neighbors this weekend.

And the frame was free!!!

Its called "the haybarn" since an old haybarn is just up the hill. Pretty much my dads home turf.

Since the youpon has grown up and the frame is metal is looks like it floated up there.

Itís been an active morning so far. Had 3 does come in shortly after daylight. Dropped the lead doe.

The other 2 didnít seem too alarmed and stuck around. Since then Iíve had 3 or 4 more does come out along with 2 small bucks looking to chase.

Two of them just made it to the feeder.

I decided to bring the rifle and set up next to a barbed wire fence behind some brush that overlooks big oaks and my feeder. This spot hasnít been too great this year but I typically have good action around the rut here. Hoping a big one will give me a shot soon.

After 4 uneventful days at our farm I stopped at my lease on the way home to check cameras and, let's just say I am rejuvenated and ready to go again. One of targets from last year showed back up on cue and he is a doozy.

Copy/pasted this from my live thread, but gotta show my ETX thread all the love...

Welllllllll i literally crawled in one of my stands on the way home about hour an a half before dark... went to a spot thatís perfect for south winds nice funnel along a field with mature oaks. slipped in quiet nothing was stirring but felt great none the less! Iím scanning when off to my right i catch movement i could see base of horns and what i thought was a little buck body. I texted my wife little buck... then i smelt him and it intrigued me cause usually young deer arenít that rutty, well he slowly started moving i thought the deer was maybe injured or possibly shoot the way he was walking all stoved up.. finally i see horns and his full face, and the light switches! Iím going to go back and see if i can find the deer i believe this old man is. Heís 7.5+ and run down as all get out! Was a beautiful day in the woods and i couldnít be happier to have connected on an OLD etx whitetail thatís slipped by no telling how many hunters over these years! Thank you lord!!
