After baseball practice we hurried out to the ranch yesterday afternoon.
We no sooner got in the stand and the action began. It was still an hour before the feeder went off and the deer were moving. A few small bucks chasing doe then a buck fight in the brush. A few minutes later this guy comes strolling out of the brush and started chasing the doe that was waiting for the feeder to go off.
I told Tristan that's your buck, if he stops shoot him. I made some noise trying to stop him to no avail. He chased the doe back in the brush and out of site. I told Tristan to hold tight he would be back. A few moments later the doe comes back out with him in tow. He stopped at the edge of the tree line about 100 yards out, I told Tristan when he turns broadside go ahead and shoot him. He touched off the 300 Black out and down the buck went. He scored 130 and was Tristans 3rd and best buck in 2 years. I'm not sure which one of us was more excited.
