Default Springfield SA-35

Springfield is releasing an updated version of the Browning Hi Power. Looks
good and the mag disconnect is gone so trigger should be better. May be a purchase in the future.

I'm looking forward to checking one out in person. MSRP is only $699. Quite a bit cheaper than I expected. Springfield has really stepped up their game lately.

This is the first Springfield gun, other than the Professional, that i've wanted. Shockingly, it looks like they actually did it right and didn't use ridiculous roll marks or tell us where to put our hands.

I don't even like Hi powers, but I'll probably get one of these given they don't turn out to be junk.

I've always heard that John Browning said that the Hi Power was the gun that the U.S. military should have adopted instead of the 1911, and I might have to find out why.

The 1911 came about a couple decades before the Hi Power and was adopted before the Hi Power existed. Hi Power was a project for the French military and had to be patently different than the 1911 due to him selling that to Colt. He died before the Hi Power we know today came to be. If I remember correctly, Browning's intent was for a striker fired design.

I'm hoping Springfield can keep the Hi Power alive but I don't there is enough interest in them. I am planning on getting one. I told my wife about it so she started calling around till she remember it was Monday and most gun stores are closed. Hopefully she has made some phone calls today. I will find out when I get home.

3-6 months before any quantity will hit the market. Going to be a long wait.

That's pretty cool. Might have to pick up a new wonder 9.

There are three on gunbroker now. The high bid on one of them is over 2000 $

If anyone spots one available for around retail I would appreciate a heads up.

I really want one. But I am patient and do not feel like paying crazy money to get in early.

I'm definitely interested. Had an original Browning MKIII as a carry gun in the late '90's, remember that it wasn't rated for +P ammo. I wonder if the SA gun will be with its forged frame, slide, and hammer forged barrel? I think my decision will boil down to either the SA-35 or a Beretta 92-series (never owned one of those) in my quest for a metal framed wonder nine.

Looked at one of these yesterday. Pretty nice. Seems well made. Heavy for a 9mm, so probably pretty soft-shooting
