Finally got on the board this evening. My son first saw him while bow hunting in October. He’s 16 and was hunting by himself for the first time. He sent me a text that he saw a GIANT in the field, well out of range. A few minutes later he text back that he was a 6 point cull. That didn’t add up to me at all. Told him to try to get me a pic thru the binoculars. He said he couldn’t because he was shaking too bad. Lol.
A week or two ago my daughter and I saw him briefly right about dark and didn’t get a good look at him. She named him Reindeer. Fitting, I thought.
We watched him bedded down in the neighbors wheat field with lots of other deer for a good while this afternoon. He finally got up and checked a few does. Luckily there was one doe that got his attention in our field. He made a good enough shot on him a little over 300 yards away with his 6.5 Creedmoor. Luckily, we worked up a load with 140 Berger’s for it this morning.
Really unique buck we are going to have shoulder mounted. He was fired up when we walked up on him and saw he was not a 6 point.
